Using Christ just to make you feel better is indeed lazy and sinful, which is why he commands us to be reborn through him, changing completely the way we live. Though i do believe Christ would be the solution. Christianity has, in fact, been used to control masses. However, those who use it for that purpose always corrupt and distort the bible. One example is the catholic church in the 11th century, that hid the bible and commanded people to pay for indulgences, that is, forgiveness for their sins. Some modern leaders also condone thinking for yourself and doubting what they say. The bible is against that, as seen in Acts 8:18-23 and Romans 12:2, respectively. While the bible does, in fact, have a few mistranslations, we have many old manuscripts of parts of the bible, which are very well translated. Those mistranslations don't affect the main messages of the bible. For example, the fact that Jesus is God, that you should love and forgive eachother, etc. And again, the bible teaches against conforming to the world or to the Elite. Yes, the powerful can and do misinterpret the bible to control, but they do that with everything, mainly the media. Those misinterpretations are what caused Islam and Mormonism to exist, for example. But if you read the bible, you'll know these are false statements, and you can tell when they're misinterpreting or corrupting the bible for control. The bible is not "up to interpretation", it is, however, twisted by other people to fit their own desires. As seen in 2 Timothy 4:3–4, people will seek false but easier to swallow teachings instead of the truth, which is what is happening nowadays. To Anonymous response to Person: I absolutely agree with you, the Elite and the current world is set up to control the masses. I just don't think Christ is the solution here. You talk about a “set of restrictions” that set you free, which I would assume are the things preached in the bible. So somehow your solution to not being a slave is to devote yourself to Christ and Religion something that's been used to control the masses for forever, something that can be said was only created to control you. Coming back to the restrictions. The Bible and the Holy texts have massive flaws. They're up to interpretation, meaning they can be laid out to you as the Elite desire. They're also mistranslated multiple times over the history, so most of the things that are written in them are probably wrong and even if everything was true the powerful would still find a way to interpret it in a way that leads to them having complete control over all the religious people. In my opinion, the only way to stop being a slave is to find your own ideals and restrictions, because it's not like I disagree with you on that finding your own goals restrictions and ideals are what makes you human and what helps you find freedom. Using Christ as a way to feel better about yourself when nothing changes Is lazy.
